The Ospringe Parish Design Statement was first adopted in November 2006. It was the result of widespread consultation and five years’ work. The document describes the parish as it is today and highlights the qualities that its residents value. It was produced as a practical tool to influence the design and development of the parish. The aim is to ensure future development and change is based on the understanding of the parish’s past and present, and contributes to the future in a positive manner.

The design statement is targeted at residents and community groups, architects, planners and engineers, statutory bodies and authorities, and local businesses. It also assists the parish council when commenting on planning applications and Swale Borough Council when determining planning applications.
