Painter’s Forstal with Ospringe Women’s Institute was founded in 1937 and meets at Champion Hall on the third Tuesday of each month at 2.15pm. We are affiliated to the National Federation of WIs – the largest women’s voluntary organisation in the country – which is “widely respected by the Government and other organisations as the voice of reason, intelligence and integrity.
We are also affiliated to the East Kent Federation of WIs which arranges a programme of day schools, outings and a range of events and has a monthly newsletter. The East Kent Federation office is located in an 18th century house at 9 Beer Cart Lane, Canterbury. It has a Members’ Lounge with tea and coffee making facilities, a small walled garden, and is open to Members from Tuesdays to Fridays between 10.00am – 1.00pm and from 1.30pm – 3.00pm.
The WI aims to make a difference to the life you lead, to the community you’re part of and the world you live in. The organisation offers all kinds of opportunities to all kinds of women. Members expand their horizons, make new friends, take up new interests, learn new crafts and develop new skills. The WI is a diverse organisation, with concerns ranging from climate change to cooking, from crafts to community projects and from traditional values to new friendships.
